Peloton Interactive Inc. (Nasdaq: PTON) recently made headlines after a character in the reboot of the highly popular TV show Sex and the City died after riding one of the company’s modern exercise bikes.
But a TV show and ensuing media coverage couldn’t possibly have that great an impact, right?
Wrong.
There was an 809% increase in Google searches about Peloton “cancel subscriptions” after the episode premiered.
